COMMUNITY - WOMEN'S DROP-IN
NEWS & LINKS
" I recently heard one of our ladies commenting about this group being like a refuge to them, a place where they can be at rest; where they can share their concerns and make friends.
The definition of “Refuge” given by the dictionary is: Harbour, haven, protection, retreat, sanctuary, shelter. Our heart is to advance into becoming all that for these amazing women. We usually do some sort of crafts one week, (which works as a very therapeutic activity) and we share a reflection time the following week. We’ve used movie clips to introduce God’s love for them and that seems to be a great aid to the talk.

What makes this group so special is that these women are so flexible and adaptable. We cook different meals each Thursday, even regional food from some of our countries of origin and they seem to like them all. Also we’ve always got new volunteers coming for a short-term period and the ladies are so welcoming and ready to make friends with them. Some of the issues we come across are: mental illness, loneliness, unemployment, and illnesses, which challenge us, the staff to be creative in order to keep everyone’s interest. It's our prayer to see them through Jesus' eyes and love them like our God does." Nancy Kibysz
