Team Practice

The Counselling offered at ‘the Flat’ in Clapham Junction is a service of the Earls Court Community Project and offers counselling to individuals, couples and families. As a team practice the counselling you receive will benefit from input by various members of the team who will, from time to time, be called upon by your counsellor to offer reflections on what is taking place during the sessions. You will have the same counsellor throughout the counselling process though the reflecting team may vary from time to time. Confidentiality will be maintained within the team.

Timing

Sessions will usually last for an hour, though in some circumstances longer sessions may be offered. Beauchamp Road is a 2 minute walk from Clapham Junction Train Station and is well served by trains and busses. The flat is situated at 49 Beauchamp Road just behind Arding & Hobbs. On your first visit please allow enough time to find the venue, if driving do allow time to park. Car parking is possible in the ASDA car park, which is free for up to two hours, and is a 2 min walk from Beauchamp Road. Local resident and pay and display parking is available in the street.

Confidentiality

All sessions and records are treated as confidential. The issues raised and explored in the counselling process will not be discussed outside of the team. In rare situations where human life is considered to be at risk the limits of confidentiality may need to be reconsidered and appropriate authorities informed, this will be discussed with the client prior to any action being taken.

Duration

After the first session, if the client and counsellor agree to work together, a number of further sessions will be made. The duration of counselling will largely be determined by the client. In the early sessions you will be invited to consider your goals for the counselling and from time to time progress will be reviewed. Once your goals have been reached counselling is usually terminated unless both, you and the therapist, decide to continue working on new areas of concern.

If for any reason you feel the counselling is not helping please discuss this with the counsellor. A referal to a different counsellor or another practice may be considered more helpful. The client is free to terminate the counselling at any time.

If you have any questions or concerns about counselling feel free to raise these prior to attending or during the first session so that you can engage in the counselling process with confidence.
